Mrs. Soukup, why do you always teach us good things?

"What do you mean?"
"Like, why do you always try to teach us about good things? Are you trying to make the world a better place? Or maybe (as she got to a whisper) save Mother Earth?"
"Yes." :)

I'm a Superstar!!

This is Daisy. She is my favorite character for Mario Party 8. She is also a superstar! I totally beat Jamie and MS at M. Party last night. It is fun to play Mario Party, and it is also very fun to have good friends stay at your house--I have been so lucky the last few weeks because my guest bedroom has been used more than ever!!

Miss Taylor Swift

I wanted to lighten up my blog for summer so hence is the new look...the only thing is, the dandelion picture at the top is a really cute design by Miss Taylor Swift for Papyrus and you can buy cards and a journal with that cute picture on it! :)

And I have had this song in my head a lot lately, but not sure what to think of the video below?? Impressive?

mug shots and haircuts

Rex's mug shot. This is a thief who likes to steal socks.

At the very beginning of his haircut...

And after!! He looks a little nerdy now, but will look very handsome in 2 weeks--like any guys haircut.

With all this rapture talk...

I am glad the "end of the world," as the radio blaringly put it, did not happen on Saturday. I did not want it to interrupt one of my favorite pregnant gal's baby shower! :)

Sort of new subject, but I have been reading Ellen Miller's The ONE YEAR Book of Inspiration for Girlfriends...juggling Not-So-Perfect, OFTEN-CRAZY, but Gloriously Real Lives since about last June and I appreciate her writing and advice each day as far as a daily read goes. Today's thought included a quote by Steve Stroope, pastor of Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall, Texas, who said, "We should be known for what we're for; not for what we're against." Then I enjoyed the passage from 1 Thessalonians 5:14-15 that reads Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone. See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people. I like that.

Then I heard a biting noise under our coffee table and Rex had my ipod touch. I shrieked and he tried to hoard it...but he knows when he does the wrong thing and he surrendered. Ipod saved. :)

growing (in the washing machine)

I think I remember sharing before that I have found corn seeds in the lint trap of our dryer. Today, I saw something squiggly in our washing machine...let me explain. It is a front load washing machine, so sometimes gross things like hair, bobby pins, chapstick, etc. get caught in this little pocket in the front. The squiggly thing I found today must have started out as a bean seed...but was now at about stage 4.

First "real" 5K

Some people are natural runners...I am not one of them. This was a true accomplishment last Saturday and I am so thankful I completed my goal! I ran (and I mean, RAN the whole time!!) a 5K in Yankton, SD in about 40-45 degree weather...I was hoping to get it in under 35 minutes...I finished in 27 minutes and 31 seconds!! Now possibly a mini-triathalon the end of June...I will keep you posted :)

Spring!

Spring was here last week...

Last fall I had plants planted around our house...some have really been springing into action :)

There is a light fuzz on this plant.

Yes, that is Rex sniffing :)

Oh where, oh where could the mother cow be?

I enjoy checking the cows with Jamie...except, when it is muddy because mud, I believe, ruins clothes. The weather was brisk last night...May 12th=winter coat, snow boots, mittens and hat with hood pulled up.

We found a baby calf (just born that day) sleeping all by itself near the old trucks and such you can see in the background. Hmm...where could it's mother be?

There was one cow looking over towards us when we found this baby, so Jamie figured that was the mom and we chased her toward the baby. We tried to connect them! Jamie was using all these techniques like making baby cow noises and carrying this calf through the mud to try to get the mom to sniff it (see above)---apparently one sniff and it's true love forever.

The mom and baby did not seem to like each other--they would not have anything to do with each other. Jamie had to drive around really fast throwing all this mud (and I'm not going to think about what else) all over.

Eventually there was a match--but it was not the cow we originally were trying to match. The first cow had just been curious and in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I am sparing you my face....and if you think these aren't that muddy, that is because I was using my best efforts to protect them.

Vibram FiveFingers

Only a few hours with CJ could convince me to try on these shoes. Odd, yes. Kind of cute, yes. Very difficult to get on, yes.

Am I slightly tempted to buy a pair, yes. After realizing how my toes felt so spread apart I realized how cramped my foot really feels...
