Had to (since it's the last day of March)

A little sweetie (and somewhat of an emotion exaggerator know-it-all) was trying to tell me about her problems while I was doing my morning exercise of greeting students as they come to school and/or go to breakfast. I told her I would pick her up after lunch so we could talk in my office. Her friend said, "Hey! When are you going to take me?!" The sweetie responded dramatically, "Are you crying about all of your problems?"

It made me laugh because thankfully her problems are minuscule in the big picture, but large to her :)

P.S. This is just a google clip art from inthemindofmadd.com, not the real student.

my speeding days r REALLY done!!! well, maybe??

I almost forgot about this until I saw it again...

My speeding days really might be done now...on Saturday I was headed to a much needed hair appointment and I had to drop Rex off first so I may have been a little rushed. Well, rushed as in 77 in a 65 and $105 is my consequence.

This is not good--I speak about responsibility, respect, and safety every day...so I may have
1. a character flaw
2. a lack of discipline
or
3. bad luck!

This was the first time I sped on this road since my last speeding ticket... I like to think of myself sort of like a political candidate (Kristi Noem) who typically has many speeding tickets...I'm just so busy and important that I can't be bothered to follow the rules...NOT, I will change :)

My birthday boys!!

Rex and Jamie have some similarities...
1. They were both born in Charles Mix county
2. They were both born in March
3. They are both male
4. They both love me :)

I made Jamie this three layer cake completely from scratch--it has frosting AND chocolate ganache for my chocolate lover. Since he doesn't read this I won't write some lovey dovey message---but I do love him and wish him a Happy Birthday today!! This picture was taken Sunday at our family BBQ birthday bash for Jamie and Rex (the 2 candle on the edge of the counter is Rex's)...

because, Rex turned 2 on March 7!!! Yay for our 14 year old :) He is so sweet!!

Hmmm??

Friday night...probably at 11:30 I was finishing up some chores before bed and decided to empty the dryer's lint trap (is that even what it is called??) anyway, this is what I found...

I bet you can guess where the corn kernels came from...who else does this happen to? :)

Go Green!!

I received this from a young lad at school today. The back had "To: Mrs. Sockup" scribbled out and then Mrs. Soukup was written :)

Sometimes you stumble across things just when you need a smile :)

In this little bag...

I received the sweetest Christmas present...

The contents in the picture are what were in that little baggie--I remember being confused at first, and then looking inside and seeing a carefully prepared gift--she had folded over the advertisement for some sort of medicine on this sheet of paper to write who this was for and who it was from (I covered her name with the pen). The interesting part was that I would never have guessed this little girl would have thought to get me a Christmas gift---so I guess it goes to show that you never know who is watching you and who you might be making a difference with...without even knowing it :)

Note: Sorry this picture is sideways--it was the right way when I loaded it!?

A little humor...

This week I needed a little humor...

First a $7.90 puzzle I found in my office...

Don't worry: You will NOT get AIDS from sharing food with friends or Eating at restaurants or Playing on playgrounds!!!!
Note the faces are terrible! Now that I have shared this horror I will:
a. Throw it away
or
b. Hang it up in the guest bedroom.

This little gal brought this small bottle into my office when we met--first I thought it had to be candy. Nope, she was using it as her water bottle for the day.

well...is this a bodyguard???

Here is the bodyguard :)

Also, you got a quick peek at my desk--thanks for the cheerful coffee mug TB!! :)

TGIF!!

I am SO glad it is Friday!! But, before I dive into my weekend I must give the two highlights of my last two days...

Thursday: KS---I was thinking of you! This week we have started learning about jobs/careers in Kindergarten guidance class. I have these neat, but slightly awkward posters of Native American children dressed up like different careers: teacher, ballerina, astronaut, actor, lawyer, doctor, etc. When I held up the lawyer one they sounded it out (funny in itself) and I asked, "Does anyone know what a lawyer does?"
One particularly rambunctious student replied, "It's a bodyguard!"
"No, it's not a bodyguard..." I said as I scanned the other students to get more ideas.
"Well, it's just like one!" he said---and I corrected him again, but he was determined. Maybe in some aspects a lawyer really is a bodyguard??
**I searched all over the Internet for these posters, but they must be one of a kind because I cannot find a picture of them anywhere...

Friday: First graders were switching classes, and one taller boy who is super into football and wrestling but also has a lovey side was standing by me. A very small boy walked by and the football lovey one started hugging him, and then when the small one got away the football lovey said, "He hates me!" and pointed to the small boy. I said, "Why?" and the small one responded, "Well he always kisses me..." I gave the football lovey a look like what? and he responded, "He is just so cute!" This reminds me of Jamie having a really cute friend in college--DG...he's just SO cute!!

Matt and Kim...you rock!!

This is my favorite and actually it's my ringtone most of the time--except when Jamie calls and Your Love Is My Drug starts popping (why not insert that below too)...but anyway, I LOVE their smiles/happiness in this video!!! Matt and Kim...you truly ROCK!! :) and so do you Ke$ha!!
